On a bright May morning in 2025, we went to the school “La Libertad” in San Jerónimo, a neighboring community in Concepción Intibucá. The technical support team from this municipality, Lessy Hernández was with us. We walked enthusiastically along the stony road and arrived at our destination.
History
This school, once part of the government program IHER, faced a unique challenge. With the program's disappearance, the school was left with only one teacher, Hermes Amaya, who also serves as the director.
Despite this, he took on the daunting task of teaching all six grades. A testament to his resilience and determination!

Achievements
In the face of all the obstacles of zero computer skills, lack of teacher support, and living in a rural community with unreliable phone service, Professor Amaya's perseverance has been unwavering. His use of digital education through Kolibri has not only overcome these challenges but also set a benchmark. He has become the top user of Kolibri among 47 schools in the AMFI region, a remarkable achievement.

During our visit, we were delighted to see the students' enthusiasm for learning using Kolibri. Every child in 4th, 5th, and 6th grade eagerly uses the tablets to complete assignments that Professor Hermes has given, a testimony to their active engagement in their education.
