Readers are Leaders
Reading Program Intibucá
A Culture of Reading
In partnership with the Secretariat of Education, a successful reading program is sweeping through the Department of Intibucá, with daily reading in classrooms across the region. What started as a simple curriculum requirement has evolved into a beautiful process that allows students to fully immerse themselves in the wonderful world of literature.
The journey starts in the classroom, where every reader has the chance to rise as a champion. Only through commitment, effort, and imagination can they earn the honor of representing their peers.

The Evaluation Criteria
Becoming a reading champion requires more than just reciting words on a page. The program stimulates participants across four distinct pillars to ensure a holistic understanding:
Fluency & Tone
Readers should tell stories naturally, adapt their vocal tone, and read with smooth fluency.
Body Language
A careful observation of physical expression, ensuring that the student is comfortable, confident, and engaged.
Comprehension
Beyond reading words, students must demonstrate a deep and genuine understanding of the story they just read.
Critical Thinking
Evaluating the student's ability to analyze, reflect upon, and draw meaningful conclusions from the reading material.
Understanding the School Cycles
The program is structured to accommodate students at every stage of their academic journey, divided into four cycles:
Cycle I

- First Grade
- Second Grade
- Third Grade
Cycle II

- Fifth Grade
- Sixth Grade
