August 27th was a historic day for educating children and youth in Lempira. Personnel from Shoulder to Shoulder had the opportunity to meet with the Departmental Director of Education Licdo. Oscar Arnaldo Ortega, Sub Director of Curriculum and Evaluation Licda. Dilcia Elizabeth Zerón and Sub Director of Information Technology Licda. Regina Orellana. In this meeting, we addressed different topics such as the current presence digital education in Lempira, the challenges faced, and the potential solutions that could lead to the educational advancement of this beautiful Department.

It began by giving a brief overview of what shoulder to Shoulder has been developing for over three decades in the Department of Intibucá. Likewise, our focus on education in the last 12 years after the founding of the bilingual school in Camasca.
It was very impactful to mention that, starting in 2018, we have been delivering to primary and high schools a free and offline platform called Kolibri. It has the entire national curriculum from first to ninth grade accompanied by thousands of world-class resources.
Up to this point, everything had catched the participants’ attention; they were eager to learn more about what we were telling them. Their enthusiasm was palpable as they attended a Kolibri demo. This process began by mentioning some available channels and part of their content. Next, each participant experienced the wonderful world of Kolibri using their own mobile devices. This activity was scheduled to be completed in 15 minutes, but their interest in learning more about the platform allowed us to see their expressions of amazement and interest for more than 60 minutes. It was a time of many interactions on the CREE+ channel, accompanied by many questions and answers.
At the end of the demonstration, the departmental director asked, "How can we bring this to all our schools?" The success of our socialization work was evident in this question. It was also such an exciting moment to discover that many of the schools belonging to this Department have technological equipment donated by different governmental and non-governmental entities that is not being used at all.

AGREEMENTS
- The departmental of Lempira will identify and list the educational centers with technological equipment.
- The missing equipment necessary in each school for implementing the Kolibri platform will be analyzed.
- We will develop a face-to-face follow-up meeting the third week of October 2024 to further discuss the implementation of the Kolibri platform in the schools, address any concerns, and plan the next steps.
We continue to dream that more children and young will have access to this opportunity to obtain a quality education.
Thank you very much to each of our donors for their invaluable support in helping our children to build a bright future!
